What TrueScope is
TrueScope analyzes a contractor's quote (photo, PDF, or extracted document text) together with photos of the actual job, and reports the typical price range for that visible scope of work in your region, alongside the quote you received. Verdicts ("within / above / below typical range") are produced by comparing the quote total to that computed range with generous margins.
What TrueScope is not
- Not professional advice. No output constitutes construction, legal, financial, or appraisal advice, and no contractor-client or advisor relationship is created.
- Not an accusation. A quote above the typical range is not evidence of wrongdoing. Legitimate quotes vary with materials, warranty, crew quality, timing, and factors photos can't show (layers, decking condition, permits, access).
- Not a measurement service. Photo-based estimates are approximations. Actual scope is determined by on-site inspection.
- Not a guarantee. Ranges reflect regional rate data that may not match any particular contractor's legitimate pricing.
Your responsibilities
- Only upload documents and photos you have the right to share.
- Use the service for genuine personal evaluation of quotes you've received — not for scraping, benchmarking competitors at scale, harassment of contractors, or republishing verdicts as claims of fact about a specific business.
- Respect the rate limits. Automated or bulk use is prohibited.
The smart-move rule
Whatever your verdict says, obtain multiple competing bids before making decisions. That advice is part of the product, and it's the part we most hope you take.
Competing estimates
If you request competing estimates, we may introduce you to local contractors or matching services and may be compensated for the introduction. We don't guarantee any contractor's work, pricing, licensure, or responsiveness — vet anyone you hire.
Liability
TrueScope is provided "as is," free of charge. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties and are not liable for decisions made in reliance on verdicts, for the acts of any contractor, or for indirect or consequential damages. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to $100.
Intellectual property & license
By uploading content you grant us a limited license to process it solely to provide your verdict. The TrueScope name, design, and verdict format are our property.
