Privacy Policy
What we collect, and why
- Photos you upload (the quote document and the job site) are transmitted securely to our AI analysis provider to produce your verdict. They are processed and not stored by TrueScope — once your verdict is generated, the images are gone from our systems.
- Word, Excel, and CSV files never leave your device. They're converted to plain text right in your browser; only that extracted text is sent for analysis.
- PDF files are transmitted for analysis like photos, and likewise not retained after your verdict is produced.
- Check records: we store the outcome of each check — the verdict, the dollar figures, the region, a one-line job description, and any line items read from the quote — for up to 180 days, to operate and improve the service. These records contain numbers and text, never your images or documents.
- Your email address is collected only if you type it in. If you request competing estimates, we use it for exactly that (see below). We don't buy, sell, or rent email lists.
- Technical basics: IP addresses are used transiently for rate limiting (preventing abuse), not for tracking or profiles. We don't run advertising trackers.
The competing-estimates request
If you ask us to send competing estimates, you're asking us to connect you with local contractors. That means we will share your email (and city, if provided) with contractors or contractor-matching services in your area for that purpose. That's the entire arrangement — it happens only when you request it, and only for that request. We may be compensated by contractors for these introductions; your verdict is never influenced by this (verdicts are computed from regional rate data before any of this happens).
Who touches the data
- Cloudflare — hosting and infrastructure.
- Anthropic — AI analysis of quote documents and job photos (subject to their commercial data policies).
- Resend — email delivery, if email is involved.
No other third parties receive your information, except as required by law.
Your choices
- Use TrueScope without any email at all — the verdict works fine anonymous.
- Ask us to delete your check records or email: contact us and we'll remove them.
- Unsubscribe links appear in any email we send.
Children
TrueScope is for adults making home-improvement decisions and isn't directed at children under 13; we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above changes with it. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
